Opinion: Mass Email is NOT dead

I know what you're thinking. I don't open those spam emails, so why would anyone else? Honestly, I would tend to agree, if I didn't have the tracking results (like email open rates) to back up my claim that mass email is not dead...at least not for this Colorado marketing agency. Email Campaigns That Work
No, I'm not saying that every email campaign we run for PHM Digital or a client has successful results, but by compiling an email list with the right contacts, you can successfully retain clients (pssst...who will add on new services) & maintain repeat customers for product orders. If you just try to throw darts at a paid list of "unknowns," you're going to run into plenty of issues. Today, I'm not exploring how to create that list, although there are many methods & it is very important. Instead, I'm going to write about why I know our campaigns are often extremely effective & the tools you can use to measure your results.
The good news is that email marketing services, like Constant Contact & Mailchimp (no I'm not being paid to mention these), make it easy to create emails with their user-friendly template options, and allow you to track email performance, engagement, & trends, so you can create even more effective, future campaigns. There are days you will jump for joy, as you see email results with a 75% open rate & a 50% click rate, & there are other times you'll wonder what on earth went wrong (like the 10% open rate days).
The overall point is that if you invest the time & craft emails with calls to action that matter, you will quickly learn what works and what doesn't for your company. I've had clients on both sides of the mass email marketing fence, but I always recommend giving it a shot for a minimum of six months, with a promise to yourself to send an email campaign once a week, while continuously using multiple methods to build that critical list of contacts. If you don't see a return on your investment, take a step back & analyze how your current process compares to the recommendations of email marketing experts.
It's just my opinion (as always), but mass email is NOT dead.
